London / Aurich / Munich / Luxembourg – 22 September 2026 – Mount Street has supported ENERCON to launch the ENERCON Finance Solutions Fund, a new institutional mezzanine financing platform designed to support the development and refinancing of onshore wind energy projects in German-speaking markets.
The fund forms part of the ENERCON Renewable Energy Fund S.A., SICAV-RAIF and provides operators of new and existing wind farms with access to long-term mezzanine financing, with loans of up to €10 million available per project.
The solution, which offers a unique financing structure for the onshore wind energy sector, is designed to bridge the gap between senior bank debt and equity, enabling operators to reduce their equity contribution requirements, preserve liquidity and retain full ownership and control of their projects.
Mount Street serves as delegated portfolio manager for the fund, responsible for independent investment due diligence, portfolio monitoring, governance and ongoing portfolio management activities. The portfolio will also be managed through Mount Street’s proprietary CreditHub platform, providing enhanced portfolio oversight, reporting and loan management capabilities. Mount Street also played a central role in the platform’s development, supporting the structuring and fundraising process.
The fund is backed by MEAG, the asset manager of Munich Re Group, as anchor investor, providing long-term institutional capital and extensive experience in infrastructure and energy financing. Universal Investment Luxembourg will act as the regulated Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM), with overall regulatory responsibility for the fund.
Erwin Hennenberg, Managing Director at Mount Street, commented: “Wind energy developers and operators today face increasing capital requirements for project delivery and refinancing. This Fund seeks to address this challenge with a flexible financing solution that will accelerate the development of new renewable energy projects while creating attractive investment opportunities for institutional investors. We are proud to have supported ENERCON through the structuring and fundraising process and to continue serving as delegated portfolio manager.”
Ingo Wichelhaus, Co-Head of Business Development at Mount Street, added: “This innovative platform demonstrates how the combination of industrial sponsorship, institutional capital and independent portfolio management can provide a robust framework for the continued growth of vital renewable energy infrastructure in Europe. We have worked closely with ENERCON since the Fund’s inception and look forward to putting our deep experience across global credit markets to work as capital is deployed.”
