In Conversation with Industry Experts: Recap of Mount Street’s CRE Roundtable
In the first of a three-part series, we delved into the captivating insights from Mount Street’s highly anticipated CRE Roundtable event that brought together a diverse range of market participants to discuss the pulse of the Real Estate industry. In this short summary version, we present a snapshot of the key takeaways that emerged from the engaging discussions.
The first event focused on Investors and one prominent theme that emerged was the growing divide between Prime and non-prime assets, particularly in the Office market. It has also become increasingly crucial for investors to differentiate their offerings not only in terms of utility and sustainability, but also through strategic branding and market awareness. As Helen Shellabear (Shellwin PLC) aptly put it, “Know your market, know your customer, know your buildings, and be proactive in terms of what you’re doing.”
ESG considerations continue to gain momentum, and investors can no longer ignore their impact as they are increasingly at the forefront of investment decisions. We explored how cost and skill shortages pose significant challenges to delivering projects with a strong focus on long-term sustainability. Lenders, too, are adopting selective approaches when it comes to deals, resulting in longer processing times.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the attendees for their valuable insights and contributions. Stay tuned for the second installment of our Roundtable series, which will feature leading players from the debt markets. Scheduled to be held at our Wood Street office over the summer (Dates TBC), this upcoming event promises to offer even more thought-provoking discussions and industry-leading expertise.
